Every new Zemplee member is set up with the default alert and profile settings below. These defaults are designed to keep every member safe from day one while avoiding unnecessary alert volume for your care team.
Every setting on these pages can be customized — by member, and by which user or family contact receives it — at any time. Your Zemplee account manager can help you tailor any of these to your community's needs.
Day & Night Definitions
These times define what Zemplee considers daytime vs. nighttime for bed, chair, and activity alerts.
| Setting | Default |
| Day Starts At | 6:00 AM |
| Night Starts At | 8:00 PM |
Motion & Presence Alerts
Motion Alerts cannot be turned off. However, how alerts are delivered — by text or email — can be customized for every user and family contact assigned to a member.
| Alert | What It Does | Default |
| No Activity Detected | Alerts if no sensor activity is detected | ON — Day: 30 min / Night: 30 min |
Door & Elopement Alerts
These settings monitor exterior doors and notify caregivers if a member leaves the home unexpectedly.
| Alert | What It Does | Default |
| Elopement – Out of Home | Alerts when a member leaves the home | OFF |
| Door Left Open (Day) | Alerts if a door is left open | ON — 15 min |
| Door Left Open (Night) | Alerts if a door is left open | ON — 10 min |
|
Memory Care Recommendation Elopement – Out of Home ships OFF by default across all Zemplee communities. Because wandering is a leading safety concern in memory care settings, we recommend turning this alert ON for your community — your account manager can enable it before go-live. |
Bed & Chair Exit Alerts
These alerts notify caregivers when a member gets up from a bed or chair, helping prevent unassisted falls.
| Alert | What It Does | Default |
| Sit-Up Alert | Detects sit-up movement (requires 2 bed sensors) | OFF |
| Bed Exit | Alerts when a member exits bed | ON |
| Chair Exit | Alerts when a member exits a chair | ON |
| Escalation Interval | Time before an unresolved alert escalates | ON — 15 min |
“Stuck” Alerts (Still in Bed or Chair)
These alerts flag when a member has remained in bed or in a chair longer than expected, which can indicate a fall, a medical event, or simply an extended rest.
Stuck in Bed
| Setting | Day | Night |
| Alert Enabled | ON | ON |
| Time Threshold | 5 hrs | 10 hrs |
Stuck in Chair
| Setting | Day | Night |
| Alert Enabled | ON | ON |
| Time Threshold | 3 hrs | 10 hrs |
Bedtime Compliance Alerts
These settings track whether a member is up and out of bed, or back in bed, by the expected times each day.
| Setting | Default | Notes |
| Out of Bed By | 8:00 AM | Alert always sends if this time is not met |
| In Bed By | 10:00 PM | Updates the PM Quick Check if not met; always enforced |
Return-to-Bed Alerts
When enabled, this feature tracks a member's path from bed to another room (such as the bathroom) and back, alerting caregivers if the return trip takes longer than expected.
| Setting | Default |
| Return-to-Bed Alert | OFF |
| Path Type | Roundtrip or One Way (Roundtrip default) |
| Pathway Sequence | Configured per member (sensors from bed to bathroom and back) |
Bed Turn Schedule
For members at risk of pressure injuries, this schedule reminds staff to reposition the member at set times throughout the day.
| Setting | Default |
| Bed Turn Schedule | OFF |
| Time Buffer | None |
| Morning Window | 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM |
| Afternoon Window | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM |
| Evening Window | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM |
| Night Window | 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM |
Dining Schedule
Tracks whether meals are being served and consumed on schedule.
| Meal | Default Window |
| Dining Schedule | ON |
| Breakfast | 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM |
| Lunch | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM |
| Snack | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM |
| Dinner | 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM |
Health Alerts (Vitals)
When enabled, vitals alerts can use standard clinical thresholds or custom values defined by the care team.
| Alert Type | Default |
| Vitals Not Received | OFF |
| Blood Pressure | OFF |
| Weight | OFF |
| Temperature | OFF |
| Oxygen Saturation | OFF |
|
Key Takeaway for New Customers Most activity-based safety alerts are ON by default. Most health/vitals alerts are OFF by default and are enabled based on the member's care plan. This balance ensures safety from day one while avoiding unnecessary clinical alert volume. |
