Reminders are a simple way for Members to receive timely prompts throughout the day — such as taking medication, joining an activity, or making a phone call.
There are two ways reminders can be set:
By voice (self-service)
By contacting our team for assistance. We use the Reminders API by Alexa Smart Properties.
Option 1: Set a Reminder by Voice
To set a reminder, simply say:
“Alexa, remind me to [your task].”
For example:
“Alexa, remind me to take my medication at 8 AM.”
“Alexa, remind me to call my daughter tomorrow at 3 PM.”
Alexa will guide you through the setup process, including confirming:
The reminder message
The date
The time
At the end of the setup, you may also see a confirmation screen on the device showing the reminder details and available settings.
Once confirmed, Alexa will save the reminder automatically.
What Happens When the Reminder Goes Off?
When it’s time for the reminder:
- Alexa will announce the reminder out loud.
- A reminder message will appear on the screen.
- A few seconds later, Alexa will repeat the reminder to ensure it was heard.
- The reminder will continue until one of the following happens:
The Member says:
“Alexa, stop.”
Or interacts with the screen to dismiss it.
If the Member needs more time, they can say:
“Alexa, remind me again in 30 minutes.”
(or any preferred time)
Alexa will then create a follow-up reminder.
