Feature Overview
Zemplee supports proactive Alexa voice announcements when certain alerts are triggered.
These announcements allow the system to check in with a Member directly in the home at the time an alert occurs.
This feature adds an additional communication layer beyond dashboard notifications and text alerts.
How It Works
When a qualifying alert is generated (e.g., No Motion, Out-of-Home, or other supported alert types):
The alert is triggered in the system.
A corresponding Alexa check-in script is selected based on the alert type.
Alexa announces a contextual message to the Member.
Example:
“Hello [Name], I’m just checking in. We’ve noticed you haven’t moved in a while. If everything is okay, you can ignore this message. If you need help, say ‘Alexa, Help.’”
Each supported alert type has a tailored message designed to reflect the nature of the alert.
Supported Alerts
Most of our alerts (over 20) currently trigger Alexa check-ins.
Messaging is specific to the alert condition.
Scripts are standardized and system-controlled.
Member Response
During the announcement:
If everything is okay, no action is required
If assistance is needed, the Member can say:
“Alexa, help.”
Subsequent system behavior follows the configured alert and escalation logic.
How to Enable
- Navigate to Notification Profiles
- Create a new profile or edit an existing profile
- Select the applicable Member
- Under Notification Mode, ensure Alexa is checked
- Under each alert type (Activity Monitoring Alerts or Health Alerts), check the Alexa column for the alerts you want announced
- Save the Notification Profile
- Alexa will only announce alerts that are enabled in the profile.

Important Notes
If Alexa is not checked under Notification Mode, no announcements will occur.
Each alert type must be individually enabled in the Alexa column.
This feature applies only to Members on Zemplee Cue.
