MANAGING CIRRHOSIS

Managing cirrhosis requires careful monitoring to prevent complications and maintain overall health. Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) offers a proactive approach by enabling continuous tracking of vital signs, symptoms, and lifestyle factors from the comfort of home. The following instructions provide essential guidelines for cirrhosis patients using RPM, ensuring timely interventions, improved disease management, and better quality of life.
Contact the provider if the following symptoms occur:
- 10 lb. weight gain/20% increase in weight, or more than 2 lbs. per day over 3 consecutive days.
- Unrelieved swelling in the abdomen and/or shortness of breath.
- More than 4 bowel movements per day
- Unrelieved chest pain
- Syncope
EDUCATION: Follow discharge instructions as provided AND:

ACTIVITY / EXERCISE: Follow discharge instructions as provided AND:
- Walk, bike, or do another activity EVERY DAY. Schedule rest breaks as needed.
- Increase activity as tolerated by 5 minutes per week as tolerated or with assistance.
DIET: Follow discharge diet instructions as provided AND:
- Restrict sodium.
- Restrict fluids as instructed.
- No Alcohol

OUTPATIENT FOLLOW-UP: Follow up with RPM support Team or provider AND:
