1. Motion Sensor (PIR)

Steps to Replace the Battery

Remove the Sensor from its Mount

  • Gently detach the sensor from the wall or corner, taking care not to damage the mounting tape or bracket.
  • Some sensors have a backplate that slides or clips off.

Open the Sensor Housing

  • Look for a small latch or tab on the sensor’s back or side.
  • Press or gently pry this latch to open the sensor’s casing.
  • If your model has screws, remove them using a small Phillips-head screwdriver.

Remove the Old Battery

  • Carefully pop out the existing AAA alkaline batteries.
  • Note the orientation (polarity) of the battery before removing it.

Insert the New Battery

  • Place the new battery in the same orientation as the old one (match the + and - marks).
  • Ensure the battery is firmly seated.

Close the Sensor Housing

  • Snap or screw the sensor housing shut.
  • Make sure it’s aligned correctly to keep the sensor lens secure.

Remount and Test

  • Reattach the sensor to the wall or corner.
  • If required, call Zemplee Support to confirm that the motion sensor is back online and functioning properly.

2. Open/Close Sensor

Common Battery Types

  • Many door/window (open/close) sensors use a CR2032 coin cell battery or a CR2 lithium battery.

Steps to Replace the Battery

Remove the Sensor from Door/Frame

  • Separate the larger “sensor” portion from the magnet piece.
  • Gently peel or slide the sensor unit off its adhesive backing or mounting bracket.

Open the Sensor Casing

  • Locate a small notch or tab on the side or top of the sensor.
  • Use your fingernail or a small flat-head screwdriver to gently pry open the cover.

Take Out the Old Battery

  • Note the battery’s orientation (usually + side up).
  • Pop the old battery out.

Install the New Battery

  • Insert the new battery with the correct polarity.
  • Gently press it into place.

Close the Sensor Casing

  • Snap the cover back on or reattach any screws if your model has them.

Reattach and Test

  • Stick or mount the sensor back in its original place, aligning it with the magnet.
  • Open and close the door or window, then call Zemplee Support or check via the Zemplee hub to ensure the sensor’s signal is active.

3. Adaptive Bed Mat Sensor

In many Zemplee setups:

  • The bed mat itself usually does not contain a battery; instead, it’s connected by a cable to a White Transmitter Box.

Steps to Replace the Battery

Disconnect the Chair Mat Cord

  • Unplug the sensor cable from the transmitter box

Open the Transmitter/Control Box

  • Using a small sharp object open the transmitter box

Swap the Old Battery for a New One

  • Note the orientation.
  • Replace the AAA batteries

Reconnect and Test

  • Plug the bed mat cord back in.
  • Sit on the bed mat, then call Zemplee Support to confirm the sensor is reading correctly.

4. Thin Chair Mat Sensor

Typically:

  • The Thin Chair Mat Sensor is plugged into a small transmitter box.
  • The mat itself does not have a battery, but the transmitter box may contain one.

Steps to Replace the Battery

Disconnect the Chair Mat Cord

  • Unplug the sensor cable from the transmitter box

Open the Transmitter/Control Box

  • Using a small sharp object open the transmitter box

Swap the Old Battery for a New One

  • Note the orientation.
  • Replace the AAA batteries

Reconnect and Test

  • Plug the chair mat cord back in.
  • Sit on the chair, then call Zemplee Support to confirm the sensor is reading correctly.

Test

  • Sit on the cushion to verify that the sensor triggers a reading.
  • Contact Zemplee Support to confirm the sensor is operating properly.

5. Adaptive Chair Mat Sensor

Like the Thin Chair Mat Sensor:

  • The Adaptive Chair Mat Sensor is connected to a transmitter box (often similar to the Bed Sensor Box).
  • Battery replacement is done in the transmitter box rather than the mat itself.

Steps to Replace the Battery

Disconnect the Chair Mat Cord

  • Unplug the sensor cable from the transmitter box

Open the Transmitter/Control Box

  • Using a small sharp object open the transmitter box

Swap the Old Battery for a New One

  • Note the orientation.
  • Replace the AAA batteries

Reconnect and Test

  • Plug the chair mat cord back in.
  • Sit on the chair, then call Zemplee Support to confirm the sensor is reading correctly.
