Out of Home Alert: A Guide
The Out of Home (OOH) Alert helps you know when a member may have left their home.
It looks for no movement inside and door activity, then alerts the care team so you can decide what to do next.
When Will I See an Out of Home Alert?
You’ll see an Out of Home alert when:
No motion has been detected in the home for a period of time
and
Door activity suggests the member may have gone out
When this happens, Zemplee sends one clear alert instead of repeating “No Motion” alerts.
Alert Colors & What They Mean
The Out of Home alert changes color over time if no motion is detected:
🔵 Blue – The member may have just left
🟡 Yellow – The member has been out longer than expected
🔴 Red – The absence has continued and may need attention
⏱️ The timing for these color changes matches your No Motion alert timing, so it stays consistent and predictable.
What Happens When the Member Comes Back?
As soon as motion is detected again in the home:
The Out of Home alert automatically resolves
It moves to the Resolved Alerts tab
Normal monitoring resumes
You don’t need to close the alert manually.
What Should I Do When I Get This Alert?
Check in by phone or message if needed
Consider the member’s usual routine
Take action based on risk level and context
For members at higher risk (such as wandering concerns), escalating alerts may require faster follow-up.
Common Questions
Is this an emergency alert?
No. It’s an informational alert designed to help you decide next steps.
Why didn’t I get an Out of Home alert?
If there was no door activity, the system may only send a No Motion alert.
Why did the alert disappear?
The alert resolves automatically once motion is detected again.
